Thank You for Taking the Ride with Us

We'd like to thank you, our audience for being part of "the ride" by your presence at our latest show on August 19th for Klezmer music from the Boston-based band Ezekiel's Wheels, along with the jumpin', jivin' good time fun of Chip Newton, Carey Harwood and Roger Kohrs, otherwise known as The Undermanned String Band from Burlington, NC. Both of these groups put on a stellar show at The Creative Center in Greensboro that night with a brilliant mixture of talent and personality. Your attendance gave them the attention, response and camaraderie they deserve and your donations were appreciated by all the performers. When it all comes together, it is a hell of a good ride, wouldn't you say? THANK YOU for helping us be able to do what we love and aspire to. Please tell your friends and bring others into fold. Till next time... ride on!

The Undermanned String Band Joins In On August 19th Klezmer Band show.

Sometimes ideas take a long time to come to fruition. Patience is a virtue that can be in short supply in that process. Fortunately, we were able persevere in our efforts over the past year to find just the right musical situation to feature The Undermanned String Band, the opening act for August 19th show with Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer band. Click here to learn all about the show.

The idea came back to us while working on another project The Collabative has been involved in called the "Talk Of Teronus". Hosts Dr. Drave ( a.k.a. Dave Fox) and Mike "Wezo" Wesolowski have an internet talk / music show featuring local and regional musicians that is produced by The Collabative. As luck would have it, Chip Newton - one of the members of the band - was scheduled as a guest on their show which was shot recently. It's hard to ignore the signs when you all end up in one room together. So, we broached the idea with Chip,  who conferred with his musical partner Carey Harwood and they said yes. Just like that a year later, we finally found the right situation for them to perform. We know you'll be glad we were able to work that out! Have a listen to the video below:

Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band - The Boston Connection

We first considered booking Ezekiel's Wheels through the recommendation and urging of Crystal Bright of Crystal Bright & The Silver Hands. Then... after listening to the music, we knew we just had to! But what sealed the deal for us was the fond memory of another band from Boston. Here's the story:

Back in February of 2013, The Showcase of Original Music was beginning its second year at The Creative Center in Greensboro. The Showcase was the precursor to The Collabative. We were pleased with our progress getting the word out both on the streets here locally, as well as through the internet. More and more people were beginning to find us from farther away. One such group was Occidental Gypsy. They were considering a gig at a different popular local venue that February, but after finding us online and reading about The Creative Center and what we were doing there, they wanted to know if they could be considered as a featured artist. Well, a discussion with the committee made it clear all were in favor and excited about the prospect of a touring band wanting to be on our stage. That too was scheduled for a Tuesday night, as will be with our show featuring Ezekiel's Wheels. When Occidental Gypsy hit the stage that night you could see jaws drop and everyone was fixed on their entire performance. There were raves for weeks after they had moved on.

So you see, the Boston connection came into play for us once again. The fond memory of wonderful opportunity we took advantage of back then and the reward it gave all of us, committee members and audience alike led us to believe that this show was meant to be, in much the same way as was the one that took place that night.

We're also excited to have been able to secure the local band, The Undermanned String Band, as our opening act on August 19. Read more on that, here!
