Talk Of Teronus with Wezo & Drave featuring Benjy Johnson now showing

The boys from Meldavia (Wezo & Drave) have talked and jammed with yet another notable Piedmont North Carolina area musician, Benjy Johnson. We were there to capture the chats and the music and are now pleased to share it with you.

Working should be this much fun for everyone! While the day of filming can get long and repetitious in some ways, the camaraderie, banter, informative chat and awesome live jams make it all worthwhile and very rewarding. It is an honor to be among so many truly talented and delightful creative folk.

Check out this month's episode with singer, song writer and Earthtones Recording Studio owner and technician, Benjy Johnson as he talks with the guys and they collaborate on one of Benjy's tunes "Devil In The Vinyl". Check out all the previous episodes here, if you missed any of them. Don't forget to subscribe to The Collabative's YouTube channel and see each new episode as they are released!

Celtic Artist Hanz Araki and Guest Ranford Almond Close Out The Year

Ranford Almond

The Dylanesque style of Ranford Almond, our youngest performer so far, captured the ears, hearts and minds of many in the audience on Friday October 3rd at The Creative Center as The Collabative's last show of 2014 got underway. Ranford presented original songs mixed with some classics that had people singing along in their seats and clapping enthusiastically at the end of each selection. Ranford seems to already know where he wants to go with is music and his original material and choices of cover songs played well to his talent level and skills.

Hanz Araki took the stage after Ranford, along with vocalist / percussionist Colleen Raney and guitarist/ vocalist Cary Novotny and proceeded to transport everyone on a wonderful musical journey through rousing Irish story telling songs like "Valentine O'hara", "My Jolly Roving Tar" and a little ditty"Hanging On To Me Four and Nine" (or something very close to that!), beautiful instrumentals filled with flute and acoustic guitar and the occasional song which showcased Colleen Raney's splendid voice. Hanz was in North Carolina promoting his latest CD "Foreign Shore". Needless to say, the night went long and there were claps, hoots and hollers and of course a plea for an encore, which our personable guests were happy to oblige.

It was a bittersweet moment as the trio took their final bows. The scene is a delightful one of happy faces caught up in conversations around the room, the band selling CD's and greeting guests, the rattle of chairs folding and and plates clanging in the sink, the bustle of activity as our "house" for our shows is dismantled and the room turns back into an art gallery. Those images from that night and every show this year will have to tide us over till?... the next one!

Ranford Almond, former Showcase of Original Music participant, returns

We are pleased to welcome back an old friend to perform for us. Back in 2012 when The Showcase of Original Music (the precursor to The Collabative) was in full swing, we had an open mic participant who made an instant impact on the audience the night he performed. His name?... Ranford Almond and he will play the opening set for the Hanz Araki Celtic music show starting at 8pm on October 3, 2014 at The Creative Center in Greensboro.

As a young boy Ranford wanted nothing more than to play the guitar but there was no guitar small enough for his four year old hands. Instead he started learning to play the violin. Eventually he grew to be "guitar-sized" and his wish finally came true. With an instrument he could sing along with, he blossomed into the singer - songwriter that was the source of his dreams. Call it a knack, or raw talent... both are true to some extent, but to that he has applied hours of practice and attention to the song crafting process along with the help of his father David Almond. That four year old is now in his teens and has the stage credentials and performing experience of artists much older and more involved in the local music scene. You might call him an "Old Soul" for his song writing and delivery speak like a person who has put in more time on this earth than his age attests.

See a little of Ranford's story in the video below...

We know you'll love this budding artist. Read more about the event and RSVP here.

Talk Of Teronus Season Two Begins

Talk of Teronus with Neill Clegg

Talk of Teronus with Neill Clegg

The scene is already a bit chaotic as we enter the Mega Tone Amps Tone Lounge. It's a Sunday, a day when the lights are usually out and the array of custom made amplifiers, speaker cabinets and other electronic gadgetry all rest in silence and darkness. But, not today. Today there is a bustle of activity as music equipment, cameras, clothing, laptop computers, tripods, video and audio recording devices enter in the grasp of a growing number of people, each busy attending to their appointed roles and responsibilities preparing to shoot new episodes of the Talk Of Teronus. Sounds like a well oiled machine right? Well... you don't know the hosts, Wezo & Drave and the rest of this crew very well then. Libations are already circulating, jokes and one-liners are being slung faster than anyone can keep up with them and in the midst of the madness there is the now customary question "Now, what did we say we were going to do last time we talked?". The next sound you hear is the oil can being kicked out into the hallway. Here's a few behind the scenes photos...

Actually, it is the chaos and fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants atmosphere that makes producing the Talk Of Teronus so much fun. Lord knows it's not fame or fortune. Still, it's hard to imagine having a better time, with any better bunch of talented, funny and just down right good people than when we get together to film the T.O.T. show segments. We are proud to be collaborating on this project and happy to see it begin season two. Here's show # 1 with guest Neil Clegg. Hope you enjoy!
