So, we've been saying that our October 3rd event featuring Hanz Araki along with Ranford Almond would be our last show for 2014 and meaning it. Well... that was until we got an e-mail inquiring about possibly helping put something together for a group called The Boston Boys. who will now be appearing in the Sanctuary building at The Creative Center Thursday October 9, 2014.
Their name would have you believe they hail from the state of Massachusetts, but these guys are really from Brooklyn, NY. Their name is taken from the title of a traditional fiddle tune. Curiously, Boston has provided us with more than one group here at The Collabative with prior acts - Ezekiels Wheels & Occidental Gypsy which just added to the intrigue.
It turns out that one of the current members of The Boston Boys, Eric Robertson, is a former member of Beacon Wood, a very popular American band from the Greensboro area. We love the local angle and the fact that while this group is in town, the afternoon before their performance at The Creative Center, they will do a music work shop at Weaver Academy. Those are the kinds of things we love to see and are eager to promote.
While this is not a Collabative show in the "House Concert" format we have done this year, we are proud to have our name associated with this event and to help promote it. Once again we will help bring you music you might otherwise not hear. It will be a wonderful night of entertainment in the Sanctuary Building and well worth your time. Please save the date, make plans to attend and tell a friend too! Buy advance tickets here.
