As you approach the amphitheater at Summerfield Community Park shortly before 6 pm,
the sun is just settling behind the trees and long shadows are falling
across the stone-slabbed stage. There is the slightest hint of cooler
weather and a noticeable lack of humidity as you set you chair and
blanket down in preparation for a night of music in the park. It is a
good night for this open air music affair. There is a flurry of last
minute preparations as the stage is getting set for the first of several
open mic participants who will be performing music they have written
themselves. The anticipation is palpable as these singer/song writers
tune their instruments and check their gear, while awaiting their turn
at the microphone. It is always fascinating to learn a little bit about
them in order to introduce them, while understanding how difficult it
can be for the lesser known performers to be seen and be heard. It is a
true honor to be able to give them the opportunity to play for a new
audience, perhaps for the very first time!
That might be enough to satisfy some music lovers, but we felt the night would be more complete if we also featured a highly talented local group that have proven themselves to be a Summerfield favorite. We are talking about Back Porch Orchestra. The band was founded in 2008 and has been building a following in NC ever since. Their style is as diverse as their musical tastes and backgrounds. You'll hear Bluegrass, Country, Rock, Blues, Folk, Indie, and anything else that tickles their fancy during the song-writing process.
There's certain to be something for every music lover in their set. So make a night of it and be serenaded by Bonnie Reed on guitar and vocals along with Jeremy Brady on vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin and pedal steel, Chris Reed on guitar, mandolin, Dobro and vocals and Keith Miller on upright bass. It's been a while since they've been this way and we were excited to be able to catch them with the date open. They'll leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your head for the ride home.

The Collabative is pleased to
get back to its roots, so-to-speak, as we collaborate with
Summerfield to present this night of local original music that harkens back to the days when the Collabative's founders
were part of the team that produced The Showcase of Original Music in Greensboro, NC. And just like the Showcase performances, this event is free of charge.
We know you'll want to be there!
